Wagon Trains
There were two wagon trains in Carroll County.
The "New River Wagon Train" was held the week of July 4th each year. This wagon train "camped" at the local elementary schools, where the PTA's cooked breakfast and supper for the riders as their yearly fundraiser. Each night during the week, the wagon train camped at a different elementary school. Music and dances were held each night with local musicians performing.
The "Carroll County Wagon Train" was also held the week of July 4th each year. This wagon train "camped" at the farm of Levi Smith's in Dugspur, Virginia each night. Music was provided each night by local musicians. The last day of the wagon train a horse show and horse pull competition was held.
We are still looking for videos and/or pictures of each of the wagon trains.
