Census
The U.S. Census Bureau counts every resident in the United States. It is mandated by Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution and takes place every 10 years. The first census for Carroll County was 1850. Census are released to the public 72 years after the year they were conducted. The 1960 census will be released to the public April 2032. 1890 Most of the census' population schedules were badly damaged by a fire in the Commerce Department Building in Washington in January 1921. The records for Carroll didn't survive the fire.
