In 1935 President Franklin Roosevelt created the WPA, Works Progress Administration, during the bleakest days of the Great Depression it was designed to give people work so they could make enough money to survive. In Carroll County, one of the WPA projects was transcribing the deed books. WPA employees transcribed the first 10 Deed books for the county. These transcribed deed books can be found in the Carroll County Clerk's office. Digitals and originals are available to view at the Clerk's office.
